Is playing mario kart Wiiii. I haven’t been able to play all week. Now I get to unleash some stress on Toad! Oh how I loathe him…
This Tweet got a lot of comment on Facebook, so I wanted to clarify why I despise Toad so much. You see, for years Toad has taunted me by placing my princess in another castle. I busted my butt to get through goombas, beatles, and other varieties of baddies all to find out it was a farce. Also, other times he has just been whiny. “Find the princess, she is lost” or “You need more star power to open this door,” give me a break!
So, that is why I despise Toad. The only expception is when Gina plays Mario Kart using Toad. Then I don’t have a strong hated towards him.

This page really brought some nostalgia back. I was a little sad to see Zelda on the list, but I would think at the time the producers had no idea that Zelda would be ZELDA someday. I would definitely agree with the Super Mario Brothers 3 nod, most good games seem to have copied that style of flashing back through the game (including many subsequent Zelda games.)

Is today’s good thing was playing some hard core Mario Kart with the wife.
My wife who usually doesn’t get into video games is really getting into Mario Kart on Wii and it is quite fun. She prefers Toad on the Standard Bike S while I prefer Yoshi on the Standard Bike M. She did beat me in two races yesterday, so she is keeping me on my toes. We need to invest in a second wheel now though, because I find it difficuly to just play holding the Wiimote sideways.
Is today’s good thing was finally getting all of the gold cups in Mario Kart. Now for mirror mode.
I have also started trying to go through and get a star rating on each course so that I can get a star next to my name when I play on-line. I am finding this to be very difficult. The game is very stingy in handing out stars. I would like to find more friends to play Mario Kart on-line with, so if you are up, please send over your code.
Well, out involvement in the state bowling tournament is over. Austin came close to qualifying, but fell about 25 pins short. He bowled well today, but this is state and sometimes well isn’t good enough. He started with the fifth game with 4 strikes (which really got us excited) and the opened in 5th fram (he actually did this about 3 times where he would strike in at least the 3rd and 4th frame and then open the 5th.)
The second game was a little rougher. Austin couldn’t find his line after several adjustments and he never really got into a groove. He had one double (9 th & 10th) but that was it and he ended with something around a 177. The third game went very well for him. I beieve he had a clean game or something close to it end the morning.
In the afternoon we started on a reall rough pair and again Austin had a hard time finding his line. As we moved to the next pair, Austin moved in to play up the 3rd arrow and get a little hook at the end. This worked pretty well for a while and is how he finished most of the day.
‘So, we ended with a 1206 (which is respectable) but he didn’t make he cut. It has been a fun weekend. We went over to the Cahokia Mounds which was actually more interestijnng than I would have thought. For dinner tonight we got a bloomin’ onion (which I didn’t realize was made by a bloomologist) and pizza from a local restaurant, Fortels, which is very goof.
We then went swimming and played some Mario Kart. All in all, it was a fun but disappointing day.
Good Thing: Austin bowling consistently all six games. This is what we are going for.
